PhD in Interdisciplinary Engineering (Polymer Rheology) from Texas A&M University (1996); Master in Chemical Engineering from Rice University (1984); BSc. in Chemistry from Tecnologico de Monterrey (1980). He has been Consultant for Industrias del Alcali; Vitro; CYDSA; Total Petrochemicals, USA; has conducted collaborative research in Rice University; Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg; Joahannes Kepler University, Centro de Investigacion en Quimica Aplicada (Mexico) and Visiting Professor at Rice University. Administrative positions at Tecnologico de Monterrey: head of the Chemistry Program (1998-2001), Director for Research and Continuing Studies (2001-2004), Director for Alumni Affairs and for the Life and a Career Center (2004-2009), since 2009 is Dean for the School of Engineering and Information Technologies. Member of the Instituto Mexicano de Ingenierios Químicos, Societey of Plastics Engineering, LACCEI, Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) and Chair for the GEDC Latinamerican Chapter. Teaches and conducts research on rheology, polymer composites and mathematical modeling of polymer processes.
