Engineering Education, International Mobility and Upward Social Mobility

The statement, so often evoked, that Higher Education and degrees are the natural way to take the “social lift” (as we called the social mobility in France) upstream, remains valid at least in part. Today, that social differences increases, despite the fact that the access to Higher Education is easier and even free in many countries, difficulties remain. The major problem is how to open the lift door and to know which is the correct one or at least to find the best emergency staircase. After briefly summarizing the French Higher Education system and especially the different ways to access to the engineering degree, we’ll talk about some paths that allow social climbing by reaching this prestigious degree.
